Description

Lots of stolen bicycles and horses. Pilfering from train cars. Steamers at docks. Occasional runaways (pets and people). Wires from neighboring citites. Breaking and entering. A few colorful highlights:

5/27/1905: Stolen from Iron Works...Homeburg Bicycle Gents make. Red Head. Roller Chair. 22" frame. Black enamel, Black Rims and adjustable Handle Bars. 1/4 tires. Sager Saddle. Two Italians Were Hanging around works this am.

6/12/1905: Young Mang (sic?) reported that he had his Naptha Launch tied up at the Dock Back of Scanlons Saloon. and it was Stripped of its Brass Fixtures and anchor. And one pair of oars painted green. The anchor was marked Perry & Mang. It occurred between 10:0 p.m. and midnight.

7/26/1905: Wheel taken from the Archer Hotel. National. Model 46. Number 29.175 color Black. Bars up Turned. Goodrick Tires. Enamel off on Top Bar. Belongs to May Bros. Reported at H.2. 1.15 P.M

8/6/1905: Frank Zazaz House on 5th Ave Entered following goods taken 1 trunk containing 1 black suit, clothes some womans clothes and some childs clothes two medium size gold plated watches / Woms silver watch Long gold plated chain and womans watch 2 gold plated plain rings. $24 in money 2 ten bills 2 one bills and one $2 bill. Bank book at first Natl Bank. showing $300 Deposit Empty trunk found on track foot of 7th Ave. Reported to headquarters 6:58 am Aug 6 1905

8/13/1905 - Walkers Londery (sic?) Entered by breaking side window clains to have $425 taken in money taken the safe was opened by combination. Nothing taken from officer of Londery. their is reason to doubt the amount of money [unclear] taken. All so claims that some papers taken. Fake report mad [sic] by Walker.

9/15/1906: 15 chickens stolen from Ms. Patton Corner of Tremont and Vandervoort St...by fulling (drilling?) out stake of door.

10/5/1906: Stolen from in front of the YMCA building 1905 Pierce bicycle, Black enamel chainless coaster rakes. Cushion frame and [Jork?]. Upturn handle bars. Belongs to Stanley Rand of Goundry Street. Wheel Recovered.

12/1/1906: Wm Rhodehouse's pool room 72 Webster Street was entered and $22.00 in money taken from a small box money was in bills Ones and Twos. Thief got in the rear end of the basement through a window went up the stairs and forced door leading into pool room. [Ed.: Prosper Brewing at this address in 2025]

3/8/1907 Safe blown at John Schmidt's at 1091 Oliver Street. Following property taken: Two fifty dollar bills, one twenty bill and one five dollar bill. Two plain gold rings. Letter J.S. & A.S. inside of earrings. One small gold ring with small red stone in centre. Small pearls round the outside. One pair of gold plated earrings. One gold plated breast pin. One silver watch, Elgin movement, key wind. Two Columbian half dollars. One fifty dollar note payable to John Linton signed by John Beahm and Minnie Beahm. Bound copy of Niagara Falls Gazette bearing date of March 7th 1907. Also quantity of soap. Small safe totally wrecked.
